Our Diploma in Film, TV, Fashion and Special Effects is designed to provide you with the skills, knowledge and confidence to succeed as a professional makeup artist and hairstylist. This exciting and intensive course includes our Special Effects course which is a requirement for those wanting a career in film and TV.

This course is hands-on and classes are structured with theoretical discussions, visual presentations, and demonstrations followed by application of techniques in practical working sessions. Individuality and creating an original working style are encouraged. Our curriculum and your commitment to study will see you achieve a high degree of competency on completion.  A professional photographer will also take photos of your final Fashion exam which are a great addition to your portfolio.

Student Kit

Your Student Kit includes M.A.C Cosmetics, a 12 piece MYKITCO professional brush set and kit bags, GHD straighteners and hair dryer,  and various hair accessories and styling tools. All industry standard makeup and hair products including M.A.C Cosmetics for beauty and fashion work, Dermalogica skincare and Matrix hair products, and Special Effects tools and accessories are provided for your use during training.

  • Course fees can be paid in full, by instalments, with humm, or Q Mastercard. More information on payment options is here
  • Day trips, visits from guest speakers and demonstrators are included in your course fee, as well as professional photographs of your final Fashion exam.
  • Assessments and assignments are done throughout the course and four practical makeup and hair exams are held at the end with certificates issued to successful graduates.

Course Application

You must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 and show evidence of this to attend the school.

Once a course has commenced all fees must be paid in full according to the payment option chosen.

You must be 16 years and over to attend this course. If under 18, your Application Form must be completed by your legal parent or guardian.

Once your application has been received you will be contacted by the school. Students applying for this course are required to attend an interview. If you are under 18 years of age a parent or guardian will need to attend the interview with you.

Course Interview

All students applying for this course are required to attend an interview.

This is an opportunity to discuss the course program and answer your questions. We’ll explain payment options along with any incidental course expenses and you are welcome to look around our studio and see our students in action.

Course Acceptance

If accepted into the course we'll email you an Acceptance Letter outlining everything you need to complete your Registration, including details on paying your non-refundable registration fee to secure your place.

Course Withdrawal

If the student withdraws from the course the following Withdrawal Fees apply:

  • Course withdrawal 36 days or more prior to course commencement: The student will be refunded all monies paid for their course fee to date less the non-refundable Registration Fee.
  • Course withdrawal 22 - 35 days prior to course commencement: The student will be refunded all monies paid for their course fee to date less a $1,000.00 Withdrawal Fee and the non-refundable Registration Fee.
  • Course withdrawal 21 days or less prior to course commencement: The student will be refunded all monies paid for their course fee to date less a $2,187.20 Withdrawal Fee and the non-refundable Registration Fee.

COURSE FEE PAYMENTS
The course fee includes a non-refundable non-transferrable Registration Fee.

Student Kits remain the property of The Makeup School Ltd, until final payment has been made.

Course Fee, Student Kit cost, Registration Fee and payment dates are all specified in the student’s Acceptance Letter.

Payments must be received by The Makeup School Ltd ON OR BEFORE their due date as specified in the student’s Acceptance Letter. We recommend noting payment dates as a Late Payment Fee of $20.00 per day will be charged until payment is received and the student may not be allowed to attend class until payment is made.

Once the course has commenced all fees must be paid in full as per the student’s nominated payment method. Any outstanding debt owed past the course end date will be dealt with at the discretion of the Makeup School and may incur collection costs.

REFUNDS
Student Withdrawal
If the student withdraws from the course the policy specific to that course applies.

The student will be refunded within 20 working days of the date of written confirmation of the final refund amount to the student from the school. The amount to be refunded will be paid into the student’s nominated New Zealand bank account.

Debt Recovery
In the case of any external debt recovery charges, the responsibility of these charges will lie with the student, or where the student is under 18, the responsibility will lie with the legal parent or guardian.

Force Majeure
In the event The Makeup School is forced to close for a period of time due but not limited to fire, flood, earthquake, terrorism, act of God, act of any government, or lock-out, your course will either revert to online facilitation or will be deferred to the next available course.

The student agrees to continue to pay their outstanding Course fees on or before the payment dates specified in their Acceptance Letter. Failure to continue or complete Course fee payment on or before the specified payment dates will result in the student being excluded from online facilitation or course deferral and the school will take any monies owed to it into consideration of any refund to the student.

Late payment fees will remain in effect during this time.

Either party reserves the right to cancel their contractual agreement should the force majeure affect closure of the school and the prevention of online facilitation or deferral to the next available course for a period exceeding six (6) calendar months. In the event of the cancellation of the parties’ contractual agreement in this instance The Makeup School reserves the right to refund at their discretion.

GENERAL
Course Cancellation
The Makeup School reserves the right cancel a course where circumstances warrant (e.g. there are insufficient enrolments). In the event this happens students will be offered a deferral to the next available course or a full refund or all monies paid to date, including their Registration Fee.

Course Facilitation
The Makeup School reserves the right to change the manner of course facilitation at any time.

Right of Reserve
The Makeup School reserves the right to refund at their complete discretion upon evidence of extenuating circumstances.

Photos
All photos taken of student’s work remain the property of the Makeup School and may be used for the purpose of advertising ad promoting the school across various media and social channels.

Currency
All amounts quoted are in New Zealand Dollars.
Declaration
I confirm all the information in this application form is true and correct to the best of my knowledge and belief. I will inform The Makeup School Ltd if there are any changes to the details of this application. I understand that the withholding of relevant information or the giving of false information may result in termination of enrolment.
